Sorry for the slightly off-topic post, but I thought it of interest that Brendan Eich (the "father" of javascript) has blogged about the future of js, and specifically how he will "borrow from Python for iteration, generators, and comprehensions" and more generally why he is "standing on Python’s shoulders" when appropriate.

The fact my name appears there is a happy coincidence related to the fact I am working with Mozilla on making their DOM "language agnostic" and supporting Python - but the general reasons why Python is seen as important is interesting...
