Contrast that with root where we all know what a root is, even though it doesn't imply what kind of root it is or how its used. I don't like python either. It doesn't explain the meaning of the variable at all. If you want to stick to something like python I suggest pythoncore or pythonroot, maybe pythongastric (just kidding).

Really, python has not much self-explanatory potential.
