I've done a first cut of a converter from %-format to {}-format strings. I'm not sure where you want to put it in the sandbox, I've created a gist on GitHub: http://gist.github.com/200936 Not thoroughly tested, but runs in interactive mode so you can try things out. All feedback appreciated! Interesting that you're using the %-format to translate %-formats to {}-formats! :-)
