That's no reason to squander it, though. Quoting the entire message every time makes the size of the thread grow as O(n**2), and makes things harder to read as well. That's just senseless.

The only possible benefit is to allow latecomers to catch up on the thread without having to consult any archives. But I've never seen any complaints that people who do quote responsibly are making this hard, so I can only conclude that it's not a significant problem.
