... but pony-build follows a different model

I'd rather not get into discussions of why my vaporware is going to be way, way better than anything anyone else could possibly do -- that's flamebait and not very friendly, in the end. Let's just say that I'm wasting my own time on it to scratch my own itch and leave it at that!
