I'm a contributor, actually. ;)

They are macro-benchmarks on real applications.  You will probably also want to write some micro-benchmarks of your own so that you can pinpoint any bottlenecks in your code and determine where you are ahead of the current dict implementation and where you are behind.

What I really wanted to do was to find the benchmarks for the experiments discussed in dictnotex.txt so I could put them in the unladen benchmark repository, which now lives at hg.python.org.

Since no one knows where they are, I think my next step will be to go back and see who wrote what parts of that file and contact them individually.
