You're right, I had forgotten about that :-) I'd be surprised if disabling compression could altogether break an application. It may make it less efficient, though, if it relied on TLS to compress data for it (which doesn't sound like a good thing to rely on, anyway). Regards Antoine.

I tend to agree about that, but I was mostly echoing the fact that they’ve expressed that sentiment. Without SSLContext I couldn’t think of a reasonable way to enable them to turn it on/off that didn’t involve a whole new API just for some versions of 2.7. This seemed to me like a wholly worse idea than back porting SSLContext :/
