For comparison's sake, what would the above look like using class assignment? And what is the performance difference? Actually I tried but I can't implement this without module getattr so that one can just write: from typingextensions import allowforwardreferences allowforwardreferences('Vertex', 'Edge') Maybe I am missing something, but either it is impossible in principle or highly non-trivial. Actually my version does not work either on my branch :-( But maybe this is a problem with my implementation.
