On re-reading that, I think its wrong -- it wasn't really what I intended to say. What I intended to say was, in hindsight, more like:

Despite the consensus to change comprehension scope, there's a contingent of people who are not convinced that the change was a good thing or justified.

Sorry for the inaccurate comment. Mea culpa.
