NAME top

TIOCEXCL, TIOCGEXCL, TIOCNXCL - exclusive mode

LIBRARY top

   Standard C library (_libc_, _-lc_)

SYNOPSIS top

   **#include <asm/termbits.h>** /* Definition of **TIOC*XCL** constants */
   **#include <sys/ioctl.h>**

   **int ioctl(int** _fd_**, TIOCEXCL);**
**int ioctl(int** _fd_**, TIOCGEXCL, int ***_argp_**);**
   **int ioctl(int** _fd_**, TIOCNXCL);**

DESCRIPTION top

   **TIOCEXCL**
Put the terminal into exclusive mode. No further [open(2)](../man2/open.2.html)
operations on the terminal are permitted. (They fail with
**EBUSY**, except for a process with the **CAP_SYS_ADMIN**
          capability.)

   **TIOCGEXCL**
If the terminal is currently in exclusive mode, place a
          nonzero value in the location pointed to by _argp_;
          otherwise, place zero in _*argp_.

   **TIOCNXCL**
          Disable exclusive mode.

RETURN VALUE top

On success, 0 is returned. On error, -1 is returned, and _[errno](../man3/errno.3.html)_ is
   set to indicate the error.

HISTORY top

   **TIOCGEXCL**
          Linux 3.8.

SEE ALSO top
