lrint(3) Library Functions Manual lrint(3)

NAME top

lrint, lrintf, lrintl, llrint, llrintf, llrintl - round to nearest
   integer

LIBRARY top

   Math library (_libm_, _-lm_)

SYNOPSIS top

   **#include <math.h>**

   **long lrint(double** _x_**);**
   **long lrintf(float** _x_**);**
   **long lrintl(long double** _x_**);**

   **long long llrint(double** _x_**);**
   **long long llrintf(float** _x_**);**
   **long long llrintl(long double** _x_**);**

Feature Test Macro Requirements for glibc (see feature_test_macros(7)):

   All functions shown above:
       _ISOC99_SOURCE || _POSIX_C_SOURCE >= 200112L

DESCRIPTION top

These functions round their argument to the nearest integer value,
using the current rounding direction (see [fesetround(3)](../man3/fesetround.3.html)).

Note that unlike the [rint(3)](../man3/rint.3.html) family of functions, the return type
of these functions differs from that of their arguments.

RETURN VALUE top

These functions return the rounded integer value.

If _x_ is a NaN or an infinity, or the rounded value is too large to
be stored in a _long_ (_long long_ in the case of the **ll*** functions),
then a domain error occurs, and the return value is unspecified.

ERRORS top

See [math_error(7)](../man7/math%5Ferror.7.html) for information on how to determine whether an
error has occurred when calling these functions.

   The following errors can occur:

Domain error: _x_ is a NaN or infinite, or the rounded value is too
   large
An invalid floating-point exception (**FE_INVALID**) is raised.

These functions do not set _[errno](../man3/errno.3.html)_.

ATTRIBUTES top

For an explanation of the terms used in this section, see
   [attributes(7)](../man7/attributes.7.html).
