PTHREAD...GETCLOCK(3P) POSIX Programmer's Manual PTHREAD...GETCLOCK(3P)

PROLOG top

   This manual page is part of the POSIX Programmer's Manual. The
   Linux implementation of this interface may differ (consult the
   corresponding Linux manual page for details of Linux behavior), or
   the interface may not be implemented on Linux.

NAME top

   pthread_condattr_getclock, pthread_condattr_setclock — get and set
   the clock selection condition variable attribute

SYNOPSIS top

   #include <pthread.h>

   int pthread_condattr_getclock(const pthread_condattr_t *restrict _attr_,
       clockid_t *restrict _clockid_);
   int pthread_condattr_setclock(pthread_condattr_t *_attr_,
       clockid_t _clockid_);

DESCRIPTION top

   The _pthreadcondattrgetclock_() function shall obtain the value of
   the _clock_ attribute from the attributes object referenced by _attr_.

   The _pthreadcondattrsetclock_() function shall set the _clock_
   attribute in an initialized attributes object referenced by _attr_.
   If _pthreadcondattrsetclock_() is called with a _clockid_ argument
   that refers to a CPU-time clock, the call shall fail.

   The _clock_ attribute is the clock ID of the clock that shall be
   used to measure the timeout service of _pthreadcondtimedwait_().
   The default value of the _clock_ attribute shall refer to the system
   clock.

   The behavior is undefined if the value specified by the _attr_
   argument to _pthreadcondattrgetclock_() or
   _pthreadcondattrsetclock_() does not refer to an initialized
   condition variable attributes object.

RETURN VALUE top

   If successful, the _pthreadcondattrgetclock_() function shall
   return zero and store the value of the clock attribute of _attr_
   into the object referenced by the _clockid_ argument. Otherwise, an
   error number shall be returned to indicate the error.

   If successful, the _pthreadcondattrsetclock_() function shall
   return zero; otherwise, an error number shall be returned to
   indicate the error.

ERRORS top

   The _pthreadcondattrsetclock_() function may fail if:

   **EINVAL** The value specified by _clockid_ does not refer to a known
          clock, or is a CPU-time clock.

   These functions shall not return an error code of **[EINTR]**.

APPLICATION USAGE top

   None.

RATIONALE top

   If an implementation detects that the value specified by the _attr_
   argument to _pthreadcondattrgetclock_() or
   _pthreadcondattrsetclock_() does not refer to an initialized
   condition variable attributes object, it is recommended that the
   function should fail and report an **[EINVAL]** error.
