TIMERDELETE(3P) POSIX Programmer's Manual TIMERDELETE(3P)

PROLOG top

   This manual page is part of the POSIX Programmer's Manual. The
   Linux implementation of this interface may differ (consult the
   corresponding Linux manual page for details of Linux behavior), or
   the interface may not be implemented on Linux.

NAME top

   timer_delete — delete a per-process timer

SYNOPSIS top

   #include <time.h>

   int timer_delete(timer_t _timerid_);

DESCRIPTION top

   The _timerdelete_() function deletes the specified timer, _timerid_,
   previously created by the _timercreate_() function. If the timer is
   armed when _timerdelete_() is called, the behavior shall be as if
   the timer is automatically disarmed before removal. The
   disposition of pending signals for the deleted timer is
   unspecified.

   The behavior is undefined if the value specified by the _timerid_
   argument to _timerdelete_() does not correspond to a timer ID
   returned by _timercreate_() but not yet deleted by _timerdelete_().

RETURN VALUE top

   If successful, the _timerdelete_() function shall return a value of
   zero. Otherwise, the function shall return a value of -1 and set
   _[errno](../man3/errno.3.html)_ to indicate the error.

ERRORS top

   No errors are defined.

   _The following sections are informative._

EXAMPLES top

   None.

APPLICATION USAGE top

   None.

RATIONALE top

   If an implementation detects that the value specified by the
   _timerid_ argument to _timerdelete_() does not correspond to a timer
   ID returned by _timercreate_() but not yet deleted by
   _timerdelete_(), it is recommended that the function should fail
   and report an **[EINVAL]** error.

FUTURE DIRECTIONS top

   None.
