NAME top

   wcsdup — duplicate a wide-character string

SYNOPSIS top

   #include <wchar.h>

   wchar_t *wcsdup(const wchar_t *_string_);

DESCRIPTION top

   The _wcsdup_() function is the wide-character equivalent of the
   _strdup_() function.

   The _wcsdup_() function shall return a pointer to a new wide-
   character string, allocated as if by a call to _malloc_(), which is
   the duplicate of the wide-character string _string_. The returned
   pointer can be passed to _free_(). A null pointer is returned if
   the new wide-character string cannot be created.

RETURN VALUE top

   Upon successful completion, the _wcsdup_() function shall return a
   pointer to the newly allocated wide-character string. Otherwise,
   it shall return a null pointer and set _[errno](../man3/errno.3.html)_ to indicate the
   error.

ERRORS top

   The _wcsdup_() function shall fail if:

   **ENOMEM** Memory large enough for the duplicate string could not be
          allocated.

   _The following sections are informative._

EXAMPLES top

   None.

APPLICATION USAGE top

   For functions that allocate memory as if by _malloc_(), the
   application should release such memory when it is no longer
   required by a call to _free_(). For _wcsdup_(), this is the return
   value.

RATIONALE top

   None.
