wcsnlen(3) Library Functions Manual wcsnlen(3)

NAME top

   wcsnlen - determine the length of a fixed-size wide-character
   string

LIBRARY top

   Standard C library (_libc_, _-lc_)

SYNOPSIS top

   **#include <wchar.h>**

   **size_t wcsnlen(const wchar_t** _s_**[.**_maxlen_**], size_t** _maxlen_**);**

Feature Test Macro Requirements for glibc (see feature_test_macros(7)):

   **wcsnlen**():
       Since glibc 2.10:
           _POSIX_C_SOURCE >= 200809L
       Before glibc 2.10:
           _GNU_SOURCE

DESCRIPTION top

The **wcsnlen**() function is the wide-character equivalent of the
[strnlen(3)](../man3/strnlen.3.html) function. It returns the number of wide-characters in
the string pointed to by _s_, not including the terminating null
wide character (L'\0'), but at most _maxlen_ wide characters (note:
this parameter is not a byte count). In doing this, **wcsnlen**()
looks at only the first _maxlen_ wide characters at _s_ and never
   beyond _s[maxlen-1]_.

RETURN VALUE top

The **wcsnlen**() function returns _wcslen(s)_, if that is less than
_maxlen_, or _maxlen_ if there is no null wide character among the
first _maxlen_ wide characters pointed to by _s_.
