# 5191. A rare American Gothic Revival Marble Top Side Table. Size: 29" wide x 18" deep x 28" tall. Age: 1850. Mahogany and mahogany veneer. Condition: extremely stable; may have been reglued at one time; original finish; minor staining to the marble top. The marble is white with gray veining. No drawer. An excellent example of Cottage Gothic. P.O.R.
# 5187. A fine Gothic Style American Cast Iron Parlor Stove. Size: 27" tall; footprint: 31" wide and 18" deep; the flue is a 6" opening in the back and the bottom of the flue is 18" off the floor. One side door; the front door removes. Marked in relief around the top surface: "Home Parlor No. 5" ; "Johnson Cox & Fuller - Troy N.Y." ; "Patd. 1852". Condition: if there were interior fire bricks, none exist now. To the best of our knowedge, there are no cracks, repairs or losses to this stove, it is very clean; the feet remove easily; the surface rust is very minor. In the book by Tammis Kane Groft "Cast with Style" there are several notations in the text to firms that made this stove. The Albany Troy area was a major manufacturing source for fine American Cast Iron Stoves. This is one of the nicest Gothic stoves we have had in a long time. Price: $1,500.00.
# 4135. A pair of Gilded Bronze Gothic Pricket Antique Wall Sconces. Each is 13" deep by 14" wide and accomodates a 3.5" candle. Age: between 1850-1875. Each sconces accomodates 3 candles. Possibly French. Condition: the Fire Gilt surface is in excellent condition: there are no brackets with these wall sconces, so you would have to fabricate a simple bracket to attach to the wall. Price for the pair is $850.00.
# 5169. A matched pair (2) of Polychromed Gothic Pedestals. Size: 40" tall / base is 19" square / the top width is 16" square with the usable top surface being 12" square. Polychromed / painted decoration / recessed Gothic framing on each of the four sides with stylized Gothic design elements painted inside the recessed areas. Condition: considerable worm holes / scuffed and flaking painted surface. Age: between 1865-95. Probably American. Price for the pair is $3,950.00.
# 4219. A fine 18th century carved wood statue in the Gothic Style. Subject is Mary Magdalene. Originally polychromed: this figure experienced a traumatic event - fire, bombing, looting - the surface was very distressed and was apparently scraped to remove most traces of gesso and paint and gold. European origin. Probably Austrian or Hungarian. Purchased by a family in Budapest, Hungary in the late 19th century. This fine statue stayed in the family in their townhouse in Budapest until 1956 when it was shipped to the United States when the family moved here. It is 39" tall. There are various wood splits, old repairs, worm holes and finish losses to this statue. This carving dates from at least 1750 however, it could date as early as 1700-1720. Price: $12,500.00
# 5116. Pictured is one of a pair of 19th century Carcel Lamps in the Gothic Style. Mid 19th century. Size: 6" across; 16" tall to the top of the burner and app. 24" tall to the top of the chimney. The footed figural base is gold painted pot metal. The lamp is stamped brass. These lamps may have had mechanical interior works; they now function as kerosene lamps with a kerosene burner. We believe that they have been kerosene lamps for a long time. The matching glass ball shades appear to be period. The footed bases probably date from around 1870 while the lamps themselves date 20 years earlier. The lamps have tin fitted base covers while the rest is stamped brass. This is a very rare decor for a Carcel lamp. Country of origin, probably France. Price $3,500.00 the pair.
Item Sand1. A covered Sugar Bowl. Att. to Boston and Sandwich Glass Company. Circa 1835-45 Size: 5.5" tall and 4.5" wide. Octogonal pressed glass. This one is clear. Pictured on page 67 of The Gothic Revival Style in America, 1830-1870; an exhibition catalogue from The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston June 1976 written by Katherine S. Howe and David B. Warren. A nice Gothic item for ones collection. Price: $250.00.

# 4478. An American Gothic Piano or Organ Stool. Circa 1850. Painted rosewood grained walnut. The seat revolves and at the lowest level the stool is 20" tall and the top is 15" in diameter. The seat raises about 8". Condition: original scuffed finish consistent with use and age; the fabric upholstery appears to be quite old and is moss green mohair; the gimp which would have covered the tacks is gone. Can easily be shipped U.P.S. Price: $650.00.
# 5039. Pictured is one of a pair of American Gothic Cast Iron Parlor Stoves. Manufactured by A.C. Barstow & Co. of Providence Rhode Island. Circa 1850. Size: 29" wide x 17" deep and 25" tall. The back vent hole is 5" in diameter and the bottom of the hole is 18" from the floor. In the mid-19th century there were hundreds of cast iron foundries manufacturing items such as stoves. This company founded by Amos Barstow in Providence was located on Point Street and survived into the late 19th century designing many innovative wood and coal stoves and eventually larger furnaces. Condition: crack in the front Gothic center 'door'. Often, these type of stoves are purchased by customers who use them for period decorations for a restoration. We have two identical stoves in stock. The other stove is in very rusted condition and must be sandblasted. The price for the better of the two is 795.00andtherustedmodelis795.00 and the rusted model is 795.00andtherustedmodelis250.00.
# 5152. An American Walnut 'console' table. Originally this was a lectern. It is finished on the front and sides with the back exposing the interior rough construction. Top size: 21" x 43" x 34" tall. Condition: there is a square hole app. 1.5" in the center where the support for the lectern went into the top. There are minor chips to the base and a split in the center above the Gothic arch. The style is American Modern Gothic and dates from between 1875 and 1885. Probably from a church. This form of furniture is uncommon and rare: there was only one in each church of that era construction. Very heavy and well made. Quite suitable as a console table and the hole in the center of the top is perfect for an electric lamp cord. Price: $1,750.00.
# 4803. A pair of Candelabra. Circa 1869. Aesthetic / Gothic style. Either English or French. Champleve and ormoulu over bronze. Size: 22" tall. Each candelabra hold 7 candles. Condition: gilt loss consistent with considerable use and age. The Champleve is intact and without problems. All of the 14 candle cups are not the same ormoulu color as the rest of the metalwork: they are darker and undecorated. We believe that they are period to the entirety, but cannot be absolutely sure. We would find it hard to believe that all were replaced. Each candelabra is supported by three winged dragons. These would be a great addition to your castle dining table. Price for the set is $3,850.00.
# 5044. A three piece set of American Girandoles. Commonly called the Bigelow Chapel Model manufactured by the William Shaw Company of Boston. Fully marked in the bronze back with the name, address and patent date. The single candle Girandoles are 14" tall mounted on an Egyptian Marble base which is 3.5" x 6.25". The Three arm unit is 16.25" tall on the same size and type of marble base. The prisms appear to be period to the Girandoles are are consistent with original material. The prisms are commonly referred to as "interlocking C and star" prisms as described by H. Parrott Bacot in his book titled "Nineteenth Century Lighting" and this model girandole is pictured on page 188 of that book. Condition: slight discoloration to the gold gilt work of the chapel sections with more gold gilt wear to the prism supports and candle cups. All in all, this is a rare set of Girandoles in good condition. There are no repairs to the metalwork or marble. The prisms have small flakes consistent with use and age. There are no prisms missing. Each has a double button. The markings on the back state: "W. F. Shaw 174 Wash St. Boston Patent Dec 18, 1849" Shaw was located at 270 Washington Street in Boston from 1848 to 1851. We don't know when he was at 174 Washington Street: before or after the 270 address. We sold a similar set to The Rhode Island School of Design Museum a number of years ago and similar examples exist in the Sleep Hollow Restorations Collection and other important private and public collections. Price: $2,450.00 the set.
# 4613. One of a pair of Gothic Revival candelabras. Each is 30.5" tall and uses 5 candles. Gold gilt bronze with red and blue glass jewels for decoration and small amount of enamel decoration. No religious decoration: saints, crosses, etc. Condition: scuffs consistent with use and age and slight bending to the circular 4 candle suspension; loss of two of the decorative quatrefoil screws attachments. Price for the pair is $2,850.00.
# 4855. An American Gothic Cast Iron Parlor Stove. Size: 18" deep x 29" wide and 28" tall to the top of the fire box with another 14" to the top of the finial. (the following information from a web visitor: thank's!) "The stove was cast in W. Poultney or Poultney, Vermont by Henry Stanley, likely prior to 1856 if the plate reads W. Poultney. The foundry didn't move, but in 1856 West Poultney was incorporated into Poultney, and if the plate drops the 'W.' then it would be safe to conclude that it was cast after 1856." Markings: (a little hard to read) "Poultney VT. Oct. 16, 1845" "Stanley's Patent No. 2". The age of this stove is consistent with the 1845 cast date. Condition: looks more rough that it actually is: someone painted this stove with white enamel paint and then painted over it with black paint; the box is intact with no breaks or repairs; the side door has a replaced knob; the finial underplate has two edge losses and the finial has a side 'ear' decorative element broken off and missing; two of the feet body support flanges have been repaired and there is loss to on foot (part of the body support flange is broken off and missing). Still all in all, it is in pretty good shape. The stove needs to be sandblasted and blacked. No holes in the body floor of the stove. I don't know if this style stove had a brick interior liner: there is none evident at this time. The style is Gothic with Rococo embellishments. Gothic stoves are not very common. Though box like in form, this stove still has a great style and design. Price: $1,500.00.
#4669. A French Gothic Revival Miniature Sideboard / Hanging Cabinet. Age: 1860-70. Cabinet makers paper label on the back stating: "Graverend / 63 Rue Grand Pont. / Rouen". Mahogany (solid not veneer). Size: overall 23" x 34". The shelves from the top down: 20" x 3.75" ; 20" x 5.5" ; 20" x 8.25"; Inside the cabinet the bottom (and only) shelf is 20" x 8". Condition: no losses or breaks to the glass or mirror; distressed mercury to the mirror back. The lock functions and the key is original. This cabinet is Gothic / Rococo in style. It has turned feet in the front and has the appearance of a child's size sideboard. There are original hanging rings on the top back so that it may be hung from a wall. The price for this rare and beautiful cabinet is $2,500.00.
# 4621. A Gothic / Grand Tour / Miniature Salesman Sample Monument. Size: app. 21.5" tall; footprint: app. 5 7/8" square. Material: marble or slate. Age: pre 1850's. Condition: various scratches, nicks and abrasions consistent with use and age. This rare item comes in two sections with the upper section in the form of an obelisk sits into the base section. This item was meant to represent a miniature of an actual cemetery monument. Perhaps it was used in an office of a tombstone cutter. The proportions are exact and accurate: the maker excelled in the ability to represent a miniature monument. Price: $1,500.00.
Item # 4593. A fire gilt bronze clock garniture. Clock with a pair of matching three light candelabras. Napoleon III era; c. 1850-1870. Probably French. The works are French. Strikes on the hour and half hour. Size: the clock is 12.5" tall x 9" long x 6" deep. The candelabras are 15" tall. Material: Fire Gilt Bronze with painted "Paris Porcelain" elements with hand painted details. The decorative elements used reflect Renaissance designs: battle arms, swords, axes, helmets, etc., all reflected in the porcelain and cast bronze decor. The colors are royal blue porcelain enhanced with gold and white art work. Condition: one of the candelabras has a missing candle cap and there are several decorative chains missing. The bezel around the clock face may or may not have been altered. There is no glass cover to the clock face. There is a glass cover to the back of the clock. The movement appears to be original and the clock is presently in running and striking condition. There is a key. From a local Newport Rhode Island estate. Price: $4,000.00 the set.

The Cameo Style Gas Shades (pair) are for 4" fitters. The Shades have a top opening of 5.5" and are app. 7" tall. Probably American. Fitted for electricity. NO back plates. Price: $5,650.00 the pair.
# 4466. A Napoleon III Gothic Table Gallery {Frame}. Ormoulu Bronze with inset Champlevé decor; silver metal Sphinx. Three Sphinx guard the footed base of this Table Gallery. Probably French, c. 1850-60. Size: 6.5" across and 7" tall. Opening {16" across} to reveal eight frames, each 2.25" x 3.25" in size.
