Devil's Advocate:
Do you guys have info to say that the servers are old/decrepit? Or poorly maintained?
What would be the new interface you are looking for? A modern one with more unblockable ads? ;)

Personally I have no big complaints about BS. In my distant memory I can recall significant performance problems. But I feel like we're on a rather stable run for years now. 2. DGreat

when you load a page and it takes ages to open that is clear indicator. and no, it is not because of slow internet speeds or an old computer. 3. NorthBank

I don’t tend to have that problem. Or maybe my standards are low? Is that a general complaint of y’all? 4. La Trucha

Glad to know I’m not the only one.

Also, it’s 2023 and still no dark mode  5. NorthBank

Yes dark mode would be useful. And I do recall it's been requested for years. Apparently the version of BBS software we run doesn't support it, or else I'm sure they would've enabled it, right?

But that's not related to a server upgrade or page load laggyness.

On reflection, there are times in the past year when BS does seem to have issues, perhaps related to load. But honestly the site is way more stable than it was during the worst years (a decade or so back?) so I'm really not bothered too much.

It basically does what I need it to do, which is to host threads of long-form posts. I can put up with occasional server hiccups.

And I'm always a bit cautious about migrating to new software to improve a few things, while also taking some significant steps backwards in functionality or annoyance. Let alone the implicit risk involved in migrating 30 years or so of historical posts/likes/etc/etc.

I know that's not what this most recent topic was about (upgrading servers) but I sensed that the convo might be shifting towards software. 6. DGreat

I'm ok with the software itself but to be honest there is times where it can take a minute to load a thread.

Perhaps more mobile friendly website as well/ 7. TheJoeGreene

The ability to put moderators on ignore outside their board would be great. There's only so many personal attacks one is willing to take from morrissey. 8. BocaFan

Just wondering if there is a reason why a dedicated sub-forum for the World Cup only gets created a few months prior to the beginning of the tournament(?). And at the same time, the sub-forum for Brazil 2014 remains "pinned" at the top of the FIFA Tournaments page.

Wouldn't it make sense to create them about 3 years ahead of the tournament? Because as it stands, there is one dedicated WC 2026 thread where everything from ticket prices, to qualifying, to predictions, to news about stadiums and fan zones etc. is discussed. 9. Kryptonite

You'd think.

You'd also think they'd de-mod people who haven't posted in the past year.

Now that Twitter has become X (and there seems to be no going back on that), it'd be great if you could update the system to recognized X.com url's as imbedded tweets instead of (or in addition to) Twitter.com. TIA! 11. soccernutter

It was decided in the Crew forum to keep the old logo. 14. TheJoeGreene

Still hoping we can get to the point of putting mods on ignore outside of their sections. Got one trolling away tonight and it's brutal trying to ignore his garbage in the middle of an otherwise fun discussion. 15. rslfanboy

Is there any possibility that Xenforo is working on the ability to access Bluesky or Threads API for embedding posts?

TwitterX is becoming much less relevant. 16. NorthBank

And less reliable to work within BigSoccer from what I can tell. Lots of broken links or messages saying something like Twitter ID is invalid. 17. soccernutter

I figured that had already been established.

I had twitter API issues even before Musk. 19. DCW531

And this is still hanging out there, with San Diego joining soon.

I wrote the following in another thread about the end of Tapatalk but it applies in here and in general:

_"p.s. Given the almost zero response we get from the admins, I suspect none of these feature requests will happen. It seems the best that we can hope for is that someone hidden in the background will just keep the lights on for BigSoccer. And if that happens, I'm OK living with things just the way they are."_ 21. rslfanboy
