Nice goal from Estevão yesterday. O Tri vem ....
I like our chances in the next 5 games. I think Vasco away will be the toughest match. Then it's a big match against Fortaleza at home.
We will have to see how Botafogo manage juggling Libertadores and the Brasileiro. I think Fortaleza will end up fading. 2.

Inter beat Fortaleza in their make-up match today.
That keeps Botafogo in first and Fortaleza in second, now even on 25 matches.
Palmeiras are 1 point behind in 3rd and Flamengo can catch up if they win their make-up match, but that match won't be scheduled yet since Flamengo are still in Copa do Brasil and Libertadores. After that there's a small gap to 5th and 6th right now.

I did not realize that Botafogo's Luiz Henrique is the one involved in the Paqueta betting scandal. Ironic that Textor went on to sign him. 5.

5x0, nice momentum goleada, puts Palmeiras in second after Fortaleza's dropped points. Next two games are away to Vasco and home to Atlético-MG. Could be complicated matches, but I'm sure Palmeiras fans will be hoping the weeks off in between will translate to a strong Brasileirao returno.
Botafogo won last night to open up the advantage in first place a little.
Flamengo x Vasco starts in 30 minutes! Alex Sandro and Gonzalo Plato will start. 7.

Flamengo let a win slip. Lots of wasted goal scoring opportunities before finally going up a goal midway through the 2nd half but Coutinho comes in and snatches a draw late in the game.
Don't know what to think about Flamengo ... so many injuries but still played well today. Technically the Brasileirão will be very tough and they should concentrate on the Cups. CdB is very accessible. Libertadores will be a bit harder. Very hard to see them competing on all 3 fronts at this point. 8.

Palmeiras won, so at least you keep pace with Botafogo.
Flamengo lost another, 3x2 to Gremio, just cannot win right now. 10.

Felipe Melo gave Botafogo 3 points and today Vasco gave us 3 points. Fortaleza are still in the fight. Marinho had two screamers yesterday. 11.

Two important games today:
Palmeiras 2 x 1 Atlético
Last 3 goals we scored were a gift from Botafogo and 2 PKs. Although Felipe Anderson missed a sitter in the 2nd half, we really miss Estevão.
Botafogo 0 x 0 Grêmio
Kannemann almost scored an incredible goal at the last second running 50m with the ball and weaving through Botafogo mid and defense.

Botafogo again with a 3 point gap . Beat Athletico 1 x 0 while Palmeiras drop points at Bragantino. Really woeful game from Palmeiras today. 13.

Fortaleza also dropped points, they lost to Grêmio yesterday. So a good weekend for Botafogo going into the international break.
Flamengo just beat Bahia 2x0. I only caught the very end. Second goal was a penalty at 90+10 for taking a swing at Michael in the box, on a play that wasn't going to amount to anything. It was funny more than anything else, just braindead by the Bahia defender.
Flamengo do have one less match still, but even if they win it they'd be 6 points behind with 9 matches left. More realistically, they want to hold on to that automatic Libertadores spot in fourth place and keep a comfortable lead over SP and Inter. 14.

Flamengo lose to Fluminense 2 x 0 with a B team. Flamengo were better in the 1st half though. Another case of some missed opportunities.
Cortinas beat Athletico 5 x 2 who are in a death spiral now finding themselves in relegation zone. Although they have a couple of games on hand. They also play Fluminense twice as one of those make up games is against them. 15.

Botafogo 1 x 1 Criciuma Dortmund
Crazy finish and maybe ... just maybe Botafogo pipoqueiro is back.
- Botafogo scored a goal in the 90th.
- Criciuma tied up 2-3 mins later.
- Botafogo then scored a goal in the last min of injury time from a corner but ball hit Botafogo's player's hand. 16.

Palmeiras 5 x 3 Juventude - FT
Horrible ref.
We should have had a PK and a red card on Juventude player among other mistakes. 18.

Botafogo open up 3 points again on top of the table. They played their starters and pulled out a win away at Bragantino near the end while Palmeiras gave the game away against Fortaleza at home with a draw.
Looking at the table, I really don't see us winning the title now. We will probably drop points against Corinthians and also wouldn't be surprised away at Bahia.
Flamengo beat Juventude 4 x 2 and are still technically in the race. 20.

Flamengo 10 points behind means that if we win that missing match (which will finally be played this week since we're out of the libertadores) we will be 7 points behind with 7 matches (21 points) left to play for.
Like you said, just technically in it. With Botafogo's history, they can't take it for granted.
The direct match up with Palmeiras could be a special match if the teams are still that close. Whether it cements Botafogo's title or another collapse, the hype leading up to it will be insane. Also, it's currently scheduled for Dec 1, which means it has to be rescheduled due to the Libertadores final (scheduled for Nov 30). 21.

A conta um dia chega.
First 20 mins looked like it was going to be an easy ride. Too many missed chances. Abel with all the training time he could ever ask for loses to a team fighting the Z4 and just coming off a trip from Argentina. Running out of excuses. 22.

No real thread to put this, but now Bruno Henrique is being accused of getting a yellow card last season to benefit family / friends through sports bets. We all know the world of football is dirty, but this is becoming a real turn off for me. You start to question every mistake or stupid foul a player makes. 23.

And after the Palmeiras loss, Botafogo won their classico against Vasco. Only 6 games left now, 6 point advantage. Even if Palmeiras wins the direct match-up, they would have to be perfect and hope Botafogo stumble once in the remaining 5 matches. Besides Palmeiras (Away) Botafogo still has to play Cuiaba (Home), Atletico-MG (A), Vitoria (H), Inter (A) and Sao Paulo (H). And they have the Libertadores final to contend with.
Palmeiras have to play Gremio (H), Bahia (A), Atletico-GO (A), Cruzeiro (A) and Fluminense (H). 24.

Yesterday we beat Gremio 1 x 0. 34 freaking shots and one goal. Estevão is really something. Had some nice plays.
And Botafogo today ... again gives the contenders hope by unexpectedly dropping 2 points against Cuiaba at home. The lead is down to 4 points. Still comfortable but not safe.
Fortaleza still haven't given up and got 3 points today staying in the hunt.
Interesting part now is that Botafogo now play Atletico away. Not sure what Atletico will show up. If they win the CdB tomorrow (tough task), Brasileirão is irrelevant. But even if they don't, they are too far to fight for a Libertadores spot on the table IMO.
Another wrinkle is that because we have international break, teams will be without players who were called up. Botafogo will be without many important players. Luis Henrique and Igor Jesus are with Brazil and I think Almada and Savarino will be with their NTs as well. Palmeiras will be without Estevão (who is suspended anyways), Gomez, Rios, and Weverton and are away at Bahia.
