Staring with Samba 4.2 CTDB was becoming a part of Samba 4. So now it is possible to setup a high availability file server environment. Together with GlusterFS you can build an active-active-cluster with automatic failover and load balancing.

This is the right class for you, if you plan to install a fileserver cluster for your Windows environment. It doesn't matter if you are using Samba AD or native Windows AD. The Samba 4 CTDB-Cluster can work in any environment.

Content:
Samba is the standard Windows interoperability suite of programs for Linux and Unix. It is a free software licensed under the GNU General Public License. Samba is a re-implementation of the SMB/CIFS networking protocol. Samba provides secure, stable and fast print and file services for clients using the SMB/CIFS protocol, e.g. all versions of DOS and Windows, OS/2, Linux and many others.
Samba is an important component to seamlessly integrate Linux/Unix Servers and Desktops into Active Directory environments. It can function both as a domain controller or as a regular domain member.
Samba runs on most Unixoid systems, such as UNIX, Linux, Solaris, AIX and the BSD variants.

Installing several GlusterFS-nodes
learning how to chose the right setup
using Gluster snapshots together with LVM2
setting up a CTDB-cluster with two nodes
Join an Active Directory Domain and manage permissions
Creating and managing shares
