City flag

This flag is still used as a borough flag (even the inscription hasn't changed) and the borough will become a town again in 2006. This version of the coat of arms dates from 1993, though a first version dated from the 1950s. Beaudoin reports two flags with the former version: one plain white with the centered arms, the other has the arms on a yellow-white-yellow triband. A friend who lived all his life in TMR also recalls seeing these flags during his childhood in the 1970s and 1980s, and I have seen the plain white field version in 1999 still displayed in a Montreal Urban Community building. The royal crown is said to be French, the roses are English and there is a stylized Mount Royal. The motto reads "Regium Donum" (Gift of the King).
