This flag of a vertical white-blue swallowtail does not appear in my copy of Brown 1995. The company was not formed until 12/1994 so I think it most unlikely that it could feature in a 1995 publication. My reading is that it originated from an image shown on their original website http://www.alpha.lv which I downloaded in 2005 when the site was still under construction. In 2004 the company was renamed Alpha Shipping Co. SIA. Their website is now operative and shows a logo of a stylised white "A" on a blue panel. There is no sign of this original "flag" or any other incorporating their current logo either from photos of their ships or the website, the nearest on the latter being from a series of photos shown with No. 15 for Riga showing a table flag on a back shelf in an office shot but I cannot make any connection.

Irbe Redereja

Irbe Redereja is a young Latvian firm, active since 2003 under the national flag. English web site at <www.irberedereja.lv>
Riga-based Irbe (meaning "partridge" or "grouse" I believe) operates three cargo ships at the moment, two of them strengthened for heavy cargo and a thirdequipped for container shipping.
Photo of house flag in 'Home' section : white field with the stylized company name 'Irbe Rédereja' in blue placed between two green lines bowed outwardly.

Latvia-Belgium Line (Historical)

The interesting scripophily site, HWPHor Historisches Wertpapierhaus AG at Zorneding, Germany, has following share on view:
No. 439 - Steamship Company “Latvia-Belgium Line, Ltd.” (Riga, 1924, 500 Lats, 1000 were issued). This bilingual share mentions the company name in Latvian ‘Latvijas-Belgijas Linija’ and English.
I have not found out much about this firm except that is was active between 1929 and 1940. I think the Belgian connection must have been the trade route (Riga-Antwerp would be the obvious choice) rather than partial ownership. No idea as to what, or possibly who, was transported. Fate of the ship ‘Kandava’ at Warsailors forum; (in German; Arthur Seeberg named as manager).
Above share shows the flags of both countries plus the house flag, twice; the colours are unknown. We see (dark coloured) stylized initials ‘LB’ on a (light coloured) field. The ‘L’ is lengthened to sustain the ‘B’.

Surecruit

One of the many maritime Schulte Group companies is Surecruit at Riga, Latvia. Relevant webpage: “Schulte Group Recruiting and Shipping Office - Riga was initially founded in 1991. For several years the company remained a small operation; employing about 100 seafarers from Latvia, mainly for gas carriers. However, in 1998 our business expanded rapidly as a consequence of increasing demand for experienced crew on different vessel types. It was also that year when the company was renamed “Surecruit Riga”.
Now employing ten, the office cares for more than six hundred crew most of which are still active on tankers of various sorts.
Above webpage shows a flagoidobviously inspired by the Schulte house flag (green with white initial ‘S’ in red disk): red disk with white initial ‘S’ placed on a dark blue field. There is also Surecruit office in Estonia.
