It was on the borders of Dor Daedeloth that Fëanor was mortally wounded by Balrogs and, soon afterward, his son Maedhros was captured by Morgoth's servants. After Fingon succeeded in rescuing Maedhros, the Elves set a leaguer around Dor Daedeloth, and so started the centuries-long Siege of Angband. See also...
