This was the land that would become far better known as Lórien after the coming of Galadriel and Celeborn, but before the middle of the Third Age its name was Lórinand, and its people were therefore known as the Elves of Lórinand. These people played their part in the historic events of the Second and Third Ages. In the War of the Elves and Sauron, their prince Amroth led them against Sauron's forces and rescued Elrond from near-certain defeat. Later, many of them fought in the War of the Last Alliance, and it was there that their lord, Amroth's father, was slain.
