Document Features (original) (raw)
Document and Medical Imaging toolkits
Document Features describe the special functionality needed to handle document formats, including PDF, XPS, Microsoft Word (DOC and DOCX), Microsoft Excel (XLS), HTML, RTF, ePUB, MOBI, and Text. They provide the technology necessary to view, capture, convert, search, store, access, manage, and deliver content in a wide variety of formats. LEAD's offerings also include several OEM-ready document-imaging components and frameworks that can be easily embedded into solutions with minimal coding. Document Features includes the following sets of functions:
- Drawing Engine functions are used to render text and images. LEADTOOLS ships with two drawing engines: the default engine and the multi-platform engine. The default engine uses Windows GDI/GDI+. The multi-platform engine can render identical results across different platforms.
- Document Imaging functions are employed to digitize documents. These include functions such as applying binary segmentation, detecting different zone types, detecting MICR or MRZ zones, detecting and correcting deskewing, detecting blank pages, orienting pages to align with registration marks, etc.
- Document Cleanup functions are used to prepare documents for scanning for more accurate recognition and better appearance. With them it is possible to handle image skew and rotation, and remove imaging artifacts such as borders and dots, or correct inverted text or inverted pages.
- Document Writer functions are employed to create popular multipage and searchable documents from SVG, EMF, and RasterImage objects. For more information about document writer formats, refer to LEADTOOLS Document Writer Formats. Document writer technology integrates directly with the LEADTOOLS OCR SDK.
