Description: An early reference is Precious Stones by George F. Kunz in Annual report (new series).: Volume I-XVI, GSC, 1885-1904, Volume 3, Part 2, which was a compilation of earlier works, though the original source is uncertain. The localities given for prehnite in the 1800s in Nova Scotia are all doubtful. Certainly there is no proof of the finds and no further reports of prehnite from the localities. Nova Scotia has two confirmed localities for prehnite but they are different than these early ones. In addition, the reference given above does not mention the county for Clifton. Assuming it is the Clifton near Truro (the only Clifton currently in Nova Scotia) the rock types there are unlikely to produce prehnite. For there reasons I suggest that the listing is in error.
