A variety of Cassiterite
Cassiterite of acicular habit, consisting of a thin prism of square cross-section, terminated by a pyramid. Unlike the more classic cassiterite crystals, needle tin crystals are usually not twinned, and are usually not black, ranging from light brown to yellowish to colorless. Forms at lower temperatures than the more common cassiterite varieties, often replacing tin sulphides like teallite.
