Named in honor of Andrey Valerievich Ivanov (Андрей Валерьевич Иванов) (20 September 1937 - 07 July 2016), Russian geochemist and mineralogist, Laboratory of Meteoritics, Moscow. Asteroid 5761 Andreivanov is also named after him. He is the father of Dmitry Ivanov (dmitryivanovite).
