Stanevansite (original) (raw)
A valid IMA mineral species
Formula:
Mg(C2H3O3)2 · 2H2O
Crystal System:
Monoclinic
The second glycolate mineral to date. Associated with the first one - lazaraskeite. The third glycolate mineral is jimkrieghite; and the fourth - lianbinite (NH4; more complex).
The structure is based on mononuclear complexes, [Mg(C2H3O3)2(H2O)2], connected to one another by hydrogen bonds.
