UM1964-01-CO:HZn (original) (raw)
A material that is NOT an approved mineral species
Formula:
Zn5(CO3)2(OH)6 · H2O
Possibly dimorphous with hydrozincite (additional water molecule is supposed to be of adsorbed type). The PXRD data (not shown) is similar to but distinct from that of hydrozincite. Compositionally similar to brianyoungite (although no sulfur indicated).
Reported from Dorchester Cu mine, Westmorland Co., New Brunswick; Hector-Calumet mine, Galena Hill, Yukon; Lucky Jim mine, Zincton, Slocan area, British Columbia, Canada.
