04093210015980906445692.jpg

Formula:

Cu6(SO4)(OH)10 · 5H2O

Contains probably essential minor Ni, Co and Zn.

Crystal System:

Orthorhombic

Name:

Dedicated to Arturo Issel (11 April 1842, Genoa, Italy – 27 November 1922, Genoa, Italy) for his pioneering work on the geology, palaeontology and mineralogy of Italy, with a special reference to Liguria (Issel, 1892). He was professor of Geology and Mineralogy at the University of Genoa beginning in 1866 and Director of the Institute of Geology and the Geological Museum until 1917.

The Cu analogue of guarinoite in terms of chemistry and chemically related to montetrisaite and redgillite.

"The actual role of Ni in stabilising this phase deserves further study" (Biagioni et al., 2020).
