BIOGRAPHY: Sheriff Jack Harwell A native of Rissel, Texas, Jack Harwell joined the Sheriff's Department as a deputy in 1963 after serving in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Navy. Harwell has been Sheriff of McLennan County for over twenty years. He has a degree in criminal justice and during 1990-91 served as president of the Sheriff's Association of Texas.
