- South Korea: New special autonomous city created. Provincial capital moved.
- Myanmar: Status of divisions changed to regions.
Other data added:
Update 9 to Geopolitical Entities and Codes (formerly FIPS 10-4) is dated 2012-09-01, although I found it posted a day earlier. It includes changes for Azerbaijan, Oman,South Korea, and Sudan.
- Dominican Republic: Added 2010 census data.
- Ireland: Added 2011 census data.
- Niger: Added population history and other facts.
- Uruguay: Added 2011 census data.
Secondary divisions:
- Dominican Republic: Added 2010 census data, and updated list.
- Niger: Report new departments, and add data for the older ones.
