Durant la pesta de 1415, anà a Ais a predicar, tot i el perill que comportava, la qual cosa li feu guanyar l'admiració dels ciutadans. Va ser pintor, però se'n conserven poques obres, d'un estil molt influït, en el tractament dels rostres i paisatges, per la pintura flamenca. Són seves quatre pintures de la capella de Sant Eloi de la basílica de Santa Maria Magdalena de Sant Maissemin de la Santa Bauma, parts d'un retaule. Mort a Ais, fou sebollit al monestir de Santa Maria Magdalena, aviat la seva tomba fou objecte de veneració i se'n parlà de miracles per la seva intercessió. He became a Dominican after hearing the preaching of Vincent Ferrer and studied art before joining their ranks. Abellon gained fame as a noted preacher and confessor but became a prominent figure after tending to victims of the plague in Aix-en-Provence in 1445. He was also a noted artist and painter with some of his works still surviving at present. Abellon's beatification received approval from Pope Leo XIII on 19 August 1902. Entré dans son jeune âge chez les dominicains, au monastère Sainte-Marie-Madeleine de Saint-Maximin, il fut un grand orateur et un réformateur de l'ordre. Il enseigne la théologie à Montpellier, Paris et Avignon. Il continue de prêcher à Aix tandis que la ville est ravagée par la peste en 1445. Parallèlement, il est réputé avoir été un peintre de talent. Quatre peintures, situées actuellement dans la chapelle Notre-Dame d'Espérance dans la Basilique Sainte-Marie-Madeleine de Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, lui ont été attribuées.
