This river turns out to be the outlet of a series of small aligned lakes, located to the south, Lake Micoine constituting its head. At the end of the route, the Apica river flows at the foot of , culminating at 884 m (2,900 ft). The lake of the same name is located to the southwest of ; however, this lake is integrated into the watershed of the rivière aux Écorces. The surface of the Apica River is usually frozen from late November to early April, however safe circulation on the ice is generally from mid-December to late March. (en) La rivière Apica est un cours d'eau douce affluent de la rivière Pikauba, coulant dans le territoire non organisé de Lac-Ministuk, dans la municipalité régionale de comté du Fjord-du-Saguenay, dans la région administrative du Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, dans la province de Québec, au Canada. La rivière Apica coule dans une vallée étroite et encaissée. Les visiteurs peuvent admirer le panorama à partir d'une halte routière aménagée à quelques kilomètres au nord du pont de la route 169 qui l’enjambe. Cette rivière s’avère l'émissaire d'un ensemble de petits lacs enlignés, situés au sud, le lac Micoine constituant sa tête. En fin de parcours, la rivière Apica passe au pied du mont Apica, culminant à 884 m. Le lac du même nom est situé au sud-ouest du mont Apica ; néanmoins, ce lac est intégré au bassin versant de la rivière aux Écorces.
