- Die Holdinggesellschaft BW Group mit Sitz auf Bermuda vereint mehrere Reedereien unter ihrem Dach. Das operative Geschäft des börsennotierten Unternehmens wird aus Singapur und Oslo geführt. Die gesamte Flotte aller BW-Reedereien umfasst 372 Einheiten. Neben der Mehrzahl verschiedenster Tanker werden auch eine Reihe von Massengutschiffen und Offshorefahrzeugen betrieben. Das Unternehmen entstand 2003 durch die Übernahme der norwegischen Reederei durch die in Hongkong ansässige Reederei . Bergesen d.y. ASA wurde 1935 durch Sigval Bergesen gegründet und war bis zur Übernahme Norwegens größte Reederei mit der weltweit größten Flotte von Gastankern. World-Wide Shipping wurde 1955 durch Yue-Kong Pao gegründet und verfügte 1979 mit mehr als 200 Schiffen und einer Tragfähigkeit von mehr als 20 Millionen Tonnen über die größte Reedereiflotte weltweit. Nach der Übernahme wurden beide Reedereien im Oktober 2003 unter dem Dach der bermudischen Holdinggesellschaft Bergesen Worldwide zusammengefasst. Im Jahr 2005 fand eine Reorganisation statt, in der alle Betriebsteile Namen mit dem Kürzel „BW“ erhielten und im April 2007 wurde die BW Group Limited zur Dachholdinggesellschaft der Gruppe. The company has over 350 vessels managed by an international team of over 7000 staff worldwide. The group was founded by Sir Yue-Kong Pao in Hong Kong in 1955 as World-Wide Shipping. In 2003, the company acquired Bergesen d.y. ASA, Norway's largest shipping company, which was founded in 1935 by Sigval Bergesen the Younger. In 2005, the business was re-branded as BW. With its LNG and LPG fleets combined, BW Group owns and operates the world's largest gas shipping fleet of more than 115 gas vessels, including four FSRUs (floating storage and regasification units). Hafnia, a member of the BW Group, operates the world's largest fleet of oil product tankers, and BW Offshore comprises the second largest number of floating oil and gas production units (FPSOs). BW's controlled fleet of over 350 ships also includes crude oil supertankers and dry bulk carriers. BW Group currently comprises BW LPG, BW LNG, Epic Gas, DHT, Hafnia, BW Dry Cargo, BW Offshore, BW Energy, and BW Solar. (en)
