Η μάχη της Καλαμάτας έλαβε χώρα στις 9 Σεπτεμβρίου του 1944 ανάμεσα στον ΕΛΑΣ, αντιστασιακό στρατό του ΕΑΜ και τα δωσιλογικά Τάγματα Ασφαλείας (ΤΑ) μαζί με τμήματα της Ελληνικής Χωροφυλακής και έληξε με την επικράτηση του ΕΛΑΣ γεγονός που οδήγησε στην απελευθέρωση της Καλαμάτας. Μετά τη μάχη ακολούθησε σφαγή ορισμένων μελών των ΤΑ από εξαγριωμένο πλήθος που συνέρρεε μαζί με τους αντάρτες.
