At the same time, she was chairwoman of the Vienna Greens. Prior, who served as a member of the Gemeinderat and Landtag of Vienna from 2010 to 2019. She resigned as party leader in January 2021, and later resigned her party membership in August, citing the policies of the ÖVP–Green federal government.

Sie war bis Anfang 2021 noch Parteivorsitzende der Wiener Grünen und war deren Spitzenkandidatin für die Landtags- und Gemeinderatswahl in Wien 2020.
