Der Boroughmuir Rugby Football Club ist ein Rugby-Union-Verein, der in der Scottish Premiership spielt. Die Heimspiele werden in Meggetland, Edinburgh ausgetragen. Der Verein wurde 1919 gegründet. Zu dieser Zeit hatte man noch keinen eigenen Platz und musste so oft die Spielstätte wechseln. 1939 wurde Boroughmuir zum vollen Mitglied der Scottish Rugby Union, kurz vor Ausbruch des Zweiten Weltkriegs, der den Spielbetrieb in Schottland zum Erliegen brachte. Nach Ende des Krieges spielte der Verein regelmäßig in Meggetland, ab 1952 auch mit Flutlicht. Ein Jahr später nahm er zum ersten Mal an der inoffiziellen schottischen Meisterschaft teil. Zu Beginn der 1960er Jahre hatte der Verein inzwischen so viele Mitglieder, dass sechs Herrenmannschaften wöchentlich antreten konnten. 1961 ging der erste Nationalspieler aus den Reihen des Vereins hervor. 1973 änderte sich viel im Ligabetrieb in Schottland durch die Gründung einer offiziellen Ligastruktur durch den schottischen Verband. Boroughmuir wurde in die erste Division eingestuft. 1980 baute der Verein eine Tribüne, Umkleidekabinen sowie einen neuen Platz in Meggetland. 1986 wurde das Flutlicht modernisiert. In der Saison 1990/91 wurde Boroughmuir zum ersten Mal Meister. 1999 stieg er zum ersten Mal ab, kehrte aber ein Jahr später wieder. In den Jahren 2003 und 2008 konnte man erneut die Meisterschaft gewinnen. (de)
Boroughmuir RFC is a rugby union football club in the Scottish Rugby Union. The club's home ground is Meggetland, in southwest Edinburgh and the club plays in the Super 6, where they are known as the Boroughmuir Bears. Founded in 1919 and admitted to the SRU in 1939, it was originally restricted to former pupils of Boroughmuir High School. The badge is derived from Boroughmuir High School and they acquired it in 1913. Although it has lost that direct connection, the home ground and navy blue/emerald colours are unchanged. The club won the Scottish unofficial club rugby championship in the 1954–55 and 1972–73 seasons. The club have the second longest number of seasons in the top division having only been relegated twice and on both occasions bouncing straight back up to the top division. The record is held by Heriots FP who have never been relegated. Boroughmuir became the first team to win the Scottish Cup "back to back" in 2001, and the first team to win it three times in 2015. The club were awarded one of the semi pro Super Six franchises to commence season 2019/20.Former Scotland International Graham Shiel has been appointed head coach of the Super Six Squad The club's ground (Meggetland) has recently undergone major development to turn it into one of the premier facilities in Scottish rugby. A new stand and clubhouse were built, along with new pitches for the 2nd and 3rd XV, an international standard all-weather hockey pitch and five-a-side football pitches. (en)
