Chariot burials are tombs in which the deceased was buried together with their chariot, usually including their horses and other possessions. An instance of a person being buried with their horse (without the chariot) is called horse burial.

Un certain nombre de tombes à char, plus de 100, ont également été découvertes en Allemagne. Dans une moindre mesure, ces contextes de dépôts mortuaires ont également été attestés dans le Nord de l'Italie en contexte golaseccien, mais également en Autriche, en Suisse et en Bohême.Globalement, à l'exception des franges occidentales de la Gaule, la quasi-totalité de l'aire géographico-culturelle celtique semble être affectée par ces derniers. Ce type de sépulture, réservée à l'élite, apparaît au premier âge du fer et persiste au cours de La Tène, jusqu'au début de l'époque gallo-romaine avec quelques variations notables simultanément géographiques et chronologiques. (fr) La tomba con carro è un tipo di sepoltura in cui il defunto è sepolto assieme al carro che possedeva in vita; in molti casi venivano inumati anche i suoi cavalli. Le sepolture con carro più antiche sono quelle della cultura di Sintashta (sviluppatasi a sud degli Urali, nel territorio della moderna Russia) che vengono datate al 2000 a.C. circa. In Europa le sepolture con carro si diffusero a partire dall'età del ferro, alcuni esempi noti sono quelli di Salamina a Cipro, Hochdorf in Germania, la tomba Regolini Galassi in Etruria e le due tombe con carro di Sesto Calende, nei pressi del Lago Maggiore, in un contesto della cultura di Golasecca.
