نَوَاة العَصَب القحفيّ هي مجموعة من العُصبونات (مادة رماديّة) في جذع الدماغ ترتبط بعصب قحفيّ واحد أو أكثر. تُشكِّلُ المحاوير التي تحمل المعلومات من وإلى الأعصاب القحفيّة، تُشكِّلُ تشابُكاً أول في هذه النِوَى. يمكن أن تؤدي الآفات في هذه النِوَى إلى تأثيرات تشبه تلك التي تحدث عند قطع العصب (أو الأعصاب) التي ترتبط بهذه النِوَى. تقع جميع نوى الأعصاب القحفية عدا نواة العصب البَكَرِيّ (IV) على الجانب ذاته من الجسم. Hirnnervenkerne sind Gruppen von Neuronen (sogenannte „Kerne“ oder „Kerngebiete“, Nuclei), deren Axone in den Hirnnerven III bis XII verlaufen. Es sind also einerseits Ursprungskerne der motorischen Hirnnerven (vergleichbar den Motoneuronen der Vorderhörner des Rückenmarks), andererseits entsprechen sie den sensiblen Kernen der Hintersäule des Rückenmarks. Der II. Hirnnerv (Nervus opticus) ist eigentlich kein peripherer Nerv, sondern eine Ausstülpung des Gehirns, da er von Dura mater, Arachnoidea und Pia mater umgeben ist. (de)
A cranial nerve nucleus is a collection of neurons (gray matter) in the brain stem that is associated with one or more of the cranial nerves. Axons carrying information to and from the cranial nerves form a synapse first at these nuclei. Lesions occurring at these nuclei can lead to effects resembling those seen by the severing of nerve(s) they are associated with. All the nuclei except that of the trochlear nerve (CN IV) supply nerves of the same side of the body. (en)
I nuclei del tronco encefalico sono aggregati di corpi di neuroni (soma) facenti parte della sostanza grigia. Tali gruppi sono associati ai sistemi proiettivi discendenti ed ascendenti (nervi in uscita ed in entrata dal/al sistema nervoso centrale) che percorrono il tronco encefalico. Tali nuclei vengono classificati in base alla loro localizzazione anatomica nelle diverse parti del tronco encefalico, pertanto i nuclei posti a livello bulbare prendono la denominazione di nuclei bulbari, quelli posti a livello del Ponte di Varolio vengono denominati nuclei pontini e quelli posti a livello del mesencefalo, nuclei mesencefalici. Una considerazione a parte merita la formazione reticolare, sia per la localizzazione (estesa a tutto il tronco encefalico), sia per la varietà di connessioni a diverso significato funzionale. Gli assoni che trasportano informazioni da e per i nervi cranici, prima di raggiungere tali nervi, formano sinapsi con questi nuclei. (it)
