إليسون براون (بالإنجليزية: Ellison Brown) هو منافس ألعاب قوى أمريكي، ولد في 22 سبتمبر 1914، وتوفي في 23 أغسطس 1975. (ar) Ellison Myers Brown (September 22, 1913 – August 23, 1975), widely known as Tarzan Brown, a direct descendant of the last acknowledged royal family of the Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island (also known as Deerfoot amongst his people), was a two-time winner of the Boston Marathon in 1936 (2:33:40) and 1939 (2:28:51) and 1936 U.S. Olympian. He ran the marathon in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin and also qualified for the 1940 Summer Olympics, but these were ultimately canceled due to the outbreak of World War II. Tarzan Brown is one of two Indigenous North Americans to have won the Boston Marathon (the other being Thomas Longboat, of the Onondaga Nation from Canada, who won the 1907 marathon) and the only indigenous person to have more than one victory. He was inducted into the American Indian Athletic Hall of Fame in 1973. Brown set the American men's record for the marathon at the 1939 Boston Marathon (2:28:51) and at the 1940 marathon in Salisbury Beach, Massachusetts (2:27:30). (en) |
