- Die Regierung Keating I regierte Australien vom 20. Dezember 1991 bis zum 24. März 1993. Die Regierung wurde von der Labor Party gestellt. Bob Hawke war seit dem 3. November 1980 Premierminister einer Regierung der Labor Party. 1990/91 begann in Australien eine Rezession. Paul Keating, stellvertretender Premierminister und Schatzminister, forderte am 3. Juni 1991 den Premierminister heraus, konnte sich beim Labor Caucus – den Parlamentsabgeordneten und Senatoren der Labor Party – aber nicht durchsetzen und trat daraufhin von seinen Regierungsämtern zurück. Beim zweiten Versuch am 20. Dezember 1991 konnte sich Keating jedoch gegen Hawke durchsetzen, der daraufhin zurücktrat. Keating wurde Premierminister der Laborregierung. Die Parlamentswahl am 13. März 1993 brachte leichte Gewinne der Labor Party, die zwei Mandate gewann und 80 von 148 Sitzen im Repräsentantenhaus erhielt. Im Senat verlor Labor 2 Mandate und stellte 30 von 76 Senatoren. Die Laborregierung unter Keating wurde fortgesetzt. (de)
- The first Keating ministry (Labor) was the 58th ministry of the Government of Australia. It was led by the country's 24th Prime Minister, Paul Keating. The first Keating ministry succeeded the fourth Hawke ministry, which dissolved on 20 December 1991 following the successful leadership challenge by Keating and subsequent resignation of Bob Hawke as Prime Minister. The ministry was replaced by the second Keating ministry on 24 March 1993 following the 1993 federal election. (en)
