Das International Open Source Network (IOSN) ist ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt des Entwicklungsprogramm der Vereinten Nationen (UNDP) und des (APDIP), die jeweils Unterabteilungen der Vereinten Nationen sind. Es wird außerdem vom (IDRC) in Kanada unterstützt. Das IOSN hat sich der Information und Verbreitung freier Software, vor allem in Entwicklungsländern und dem asiatischen Raum verschrieben. Da viele ärmere Staaten der Erde beim Aufbau einer Computerinfrastruktur gerne auf Lizenzkosten für proprietäre Software verzichten würden, berät das IOSN diese beispielsweise bei der Nutzung freier Software wie GNU/Linux, Apache oder OpenOffice.org. Daneben veranstaltet das IOSN z. B. auch und veröffentlicht zahlreiche Anleitungen für den Einsatz freier Software unter der Creative-Commons-Lizenz.
