- Jean René Moreaux (* 14. März 1758 in Rocroi (Département Ardennes); † 11. Februar 1795 in Thionville (Département Moselle)) war ein französischer Général de division der Revolutionsarmee. Er war der Sohn von Geoffroy Moreaux, Schankwirt und Bauunternehmer und der Marie Mangin. Am 11. Februar 1782 heiratete er Marie Collardeau, die aus begüterter Familie auf dem Rocroi-Plateau stammte. Er führt zu dieser Zeit ein ruhiges Leben, das der Arbeit, seiner Familie und seinen fünf Kindern gewidmet war, bis die Revolution diese Idylle störte. (de)
- Jean René Moreaux (14 March 1758 – 10 February 1795) commanded the French Army of the Moselle during the French Revolutionary Wars. He joined the French Royal Army in 1776 and was badly wounded in the American Revolutionary War two years later. After leaving military service, he married and took over the family business. At the time of the French Revolution he was elected second in command of a volunteer battalion. He was rapidly promoted, emerging as a general officer in May 1793. After another promotion, he led a corps at Pirmasens and a division at Wissembourg. He was appointed commander of the Army of the Moselle in June 1794. In November he was sent with three divisions to invest the fortress of Luxembourg. He caught a fever and died during the Siege of Luxembourg. His surname is one of the names inscribed under the Arc de Triomphe. (en)
