Jorge Cepernic (Río Gallegos, 23 de febrero de 1915–ibídem, 18 de julio de 2010) fue un político argentino. Es recordado, entre otras cosas, por haber ayudado a llevar a cabo la filmación de la clásica película La Patagonia Rebelde (1973), hecho por el cual –poco después del golpe de Estado de 1976– la última dictadura cívico-militar (1976-1983) lo castigó, encarcelándolo y dejándolo sin sus bienes entre 1976 y 1981.

In 1974, during Isabel Perón's term in office, he was removed from office.Afterwards, he was given a five-year jail sentence at the Magdalena jail for allowing the filming of Rebellion in Patagonia during his tenure in office. He was then forced into house arrest with his family in their farm nearby El Calafate. One day he escaped and managed to arrive to a police station, where he waited for the chief of police and asked him to have him removed from his house arrest and sent to a prison so that his family would not be victims of his sentence. On 18 July 2010, Jorge died in his house in Río Gallegos after a long illness at the age of 95.The Santa Cruz governor Daniel Peralta declared provincial mourning for three days. Fils d’un immigré croate établi en Patagonie, il fut élu gouverneur provincial de Santa Cruz après la restauration de la démocratie en 1973, mais fut bientôt destitué, victime sans doute de dissensions internes dans le mouvement péroniste, mais aussi de pressions des militaires, ulcérés par le fait que Cepernic avait donné son autorisation au tournage d’un film sur une grève rurale survenue un demi-siècle auparavant dans sa province et où l’armée joua un rôle critiquable.
