UNC Lenoir Health Care is a not-for-profit hospital located in Kinston, North Carolina. Donations are used to purchase major equipment and to sponsor public health awareness programs. In 1965 it became apparent that the old Lenoir Memorial Hospital was outdated and too small to serve the growing community of Kinston and Lenoir County. Little space was available for expansion and renovation and expansion was deemed unsatisfactory. After more than eight years of planning a new modern $11 million facility on the Airport Road became a reality when it opened its doors in June 1973. It was built under a long-range planning program and can be expected to accommodate 435 patients. Under the leadership of L.
