Luie Hond ("Lazy Dog") was a Dutch reggae and ska band from Leeuwarden, founded in the summer of 1997 and active until December 2007. After being a regional success, the band became nationally known in 1999, when the popular pop singer Ilse DeLange discovered the group and invited them to do the opening act for her tour. Through the years, they released several singles, before finally releasing their debut album Hier Is... (Here is...) in 2004. In 2006, they released its successor Met Liefde (With Love).

Vocalist/Guitarist Joris Mous said in an interview with 3VOOR12/Friesland: "All kinds of things are going on within a band, but the most important reason is: the money. It is financially very difficult to make ends meet. We tried everything to be able to live off of it, but if you have to conclude after 10 years that you can't, then you have to stop." De band heeft bekende festivals als Lowlands en Noorderslag aangedaan en bracht door de jaren heen enkele singles uit, waarna in 2004 het debuutalbum Hier Is... uitkwam, met twee daarbij behorende videoclips. Door de pers werd al tijden geschreven dat er voor deze band een landelijk succes is weggelegd, maar toch is het mainstreamsucces uitgebleven. Toch leek er het begin van een succes te zijn, want een tweede album - Met Liefde - kwam al in de zomer van 2006. Dit album kreeg een wat meer eenduidiger geluid dan het debuutalbum, waarbij de nadruk vooral op reggae kwam te liggen. De band sloot in 2006 contracten met platenmaatschappij PIAS en boekingskantoor Agents After All. Samen wilden deze drie partijen zorgen dat Luie Hond in 2006 definitief door zou breken, en er waren serieuze plannen: van de CD werden bijvoorbeeld drie singles genomen, met drie videoclips. Ook werd kritischer gekeken naar de inhoud van het album: de band heeft zelf bepaalde nummers bewust niet op het album gezet omdat ze er achteraf niet tevreden over waren. Op Met Liefde staat het nummer Poes In De Playboy waar De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig als gastmuzikant op te beluisteren was. De videoclip hiervan werd uitgeroepen tot TMF Superclip. Het had er alle schijn van dat Luie Hond in 2006 definitief ging doorbreken bij een groter publiek, en daarom mochten ze drie concerten geven op Lowlands.
