- محمود علي عثمان المعروف باسم محمود عثمان هو سياسي عراقي كردي من مواليد محافظة السليمانية سنة 1938 انهى دراسة البكلوريس في كلية الطب في جامعة بغداد. بعدها انضم إلى الحزب الديمقراطي الكردستاني وأصبح مصطفى البارزاني وبعد عام 1975 انضم إلى الحزب الاشتراكي الديمقراطي الكردستاني وأصبح رئيس الحزب سنة 1981 بعد اغتيال زعيمه صالح اليوسفي واستقال من الحزب سنة 1992 بعد خسارة حزبه ببرلمان كردستان وعدم مقدرتهم من نيل أي مقعد. - Mahmud Osman (* 1938 in Silemani) ist ein kurdischer Politiker aus dem Irak.Mahmud Osman studierte Medizin an der Universität von Silemani und promovierte danach. Er begann seine politische Laufbahn, als er sich 1962 der Demokratischen Partei Kurdistans (DPK) anschloss. Innerhalb der Partei stieg er rasch auf, so dass er 1968 der Stellvertreter von Mustafa Barzani wurde. 1970 verhandelte er mit der irakischen Regierung über ein Waffenstillstandsabkommen. 1980 gründete er nach seinem Austritt aus der KDP zusammen mit Rasul Mahmend und Adnan Mufti die Kurdische Sozialistische Partei. Somit trat Mahmud Osman gegen die zwei traditionellen kurdischen Parteien DPK und Patriotischen Union Kurdistans (PUK) an. 1992 nahm er an der Wahl zum kurdischen Parlament teil. Aber noch im selben Jahr ging er nach England und kehrte erst 1995 zurück. Als wichtiger Politiker verhandelte er 2001 zwischen der KDP und der PUK um einen Waffenstillstand. Nach der US-Invasion und dem dritten Golfkrieg wurde Osman Mitglied im irakischen Regierungsrat. Die Türkei protestierte gegen seine Mitgliedschaft, weil sie ihn wegen zu enger Beziehungen zu der Arbeiterpartei Kurdistans vorwarf, was ihn zu einem Sprachrohr der PKK im irakischen Regierungsrat mache. Seit 2004 ist Mahmud Osman Mitglied des irakischen Parlaments. (de)
- Mahmoud Ali Othman (born 1938) was a member of the Interim Iraq Governing Council created following the United States's 2003 invasion of Iraq. A Kurd and Sunni Muslim, Othman was a member of the Political Bureau Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). He then founded the Kurdish Socialist Party. He was also the Chief Negotiator in the 1970 agreement with the Baath Party. He is now a leading member of the Iraqi National Assembly. Othman was born in Sulaimaniyah. He became politically active at the age of 18. He completed a degree in Medicine at the University of Baghdad where he received first-class honours. He has five daughters and three sons. He was also a key player in the Kurdish struggle for autonomy. Othman is now an independent politician best known for his press interviews. He was also a front runner in the 1992 election in the Kurdistan Region. He currently plays an advisory role towards Kurdish national issues, taking no active part in recent elections in 2009. (en)
