في صباح يوم 22 مايو 2014، نُقلت مركبتان للرياضة تحملان خمسة مهاجمين إلى شارع مزدحم في أورومتشي عاصمة منطقة سنجان الأيغورية ذاتية الحكم في الصين حينئذٍ. ثم قاموا بإلقاء ما يصل إلى عشرة متفجرات على المتسوقين من نوافذ سيارات الدفع الرباعي. وتحطمت سيارات الدفع الرباعي في المتسوقين ثم اصطدمت ببعضها البعض وانفجرت، وقُتل 43 شخصًا، بينهم 4 من المهاجمين، وأكثر من 90 جريحًا، مما جعل هذا الهجوم الأكثر دموية في نزاع سنجان. On the morning of 22 May 2014, two sport utility vehicles (SUVs) carrying five assailants were driven into a busy street market in Ürümqi, the capital of China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Up to a dozen explosives were thrown at shoppers from the windows of the SUVs. The SUVs crashed into shoppers, then collided with each other and exploded. 43 people were killed, including 4 of the assailants, and more than 90 wounded, making this the deadliest attack of the Xinjiang conflict. The event was designated as a terrorist attack. (en)
L'attentat d'Ürümqi de mai 2014 a eu lieu dans la région autonome ouïghoure du Xinjiang alors que deux véhicules de type SUV, transportant cinq assaillants, ont attaqué un marché public fréquenté majoritairement par l'ethnie han. Une douzaine d'explosifs ont été lancés à partir des véhicules en direction des gens présents.
