It is situated in the Cusco Region, Quispicanchi Province, Ocongate District. Mullucocha lies north of the mountain Callangate. There is a group of lakes northeast of Mullucocha, among them Alcacocha ("black-and-white lake"), Pucacocha ("red lake") and Yanacocha ("black lake").
